3rd Annual Sand Dune Gathering 2025
The 3rd Annual Sand Dune Gathering is taking place in Galway this year. This event brings together the widest range of stakeholders interested in the future of Ireland’s beaches and dunes. All the way from the upper reaches of government to the person on the street, attendees will be looking at best practices in dune management, planning and restoration. Quite a unique gathering of minds that is all too rare in Ireland.
Where our sand dunes are fabulous places to enjoy ourselves on sunny days, they are also places of work for the many farmers that own them, and for the many conservation staff of the National Parks and Wildlife service. Most of our sand dunes are internally recognised as Special Areas of Conservation.
The event is taking place at the Galway Business School in Salthill (Eircode: H91 CDW4), with a field trip to Grattan Beach. It is organised by the Beaches & Dunes Forum https://dunes.ie/ .
